Wi-Fi hotspots in Sri Lanka are increasing day by day as more organizations are offering them free and at affordable price. There are Government provided Wi-Fi hotspots and cellular phone company provided Wi-Fi Hotspots in Sri Lanka. Phone companies are offering them at affordable price and you can access them by getting the username and password through scratch cards that are sold in kiosks. Meanwhile Hotels and Guest houses are offering Free Wi-Fi to their customers. Sri Lanka Government Telecom service provider is offering it at public places in Hospitals, Railway Stations and at public Libraries for its citizens. More people are accessing the WI-FI to connect to the internet to surf the websites, download movies, video clips, images and files. Also lot of people use it to make phone calls including voice and video calling that can be free and low priced ones with the help of their installed IM Apps.

In Sri Lanka lot of Smartphone users are connected to the 4G network throyugh their Mobile Data Plan. So they are not depending on any of the Wi-Fi hotspots to be connected to the internet. These Data connection are mostly bought as 30 days plan by local people.
