Video Calls Through Mobile Phones.
Video Calls can be dialed and received from Sri Lanka using the latest mobile phones. To make a video call both parties must have 3G enabled mobile phones also known as Smartphone and must be in the 3G network signal network available area. Most of the cities in Srilanka do have the 3G network and more customers have 3G enabled mobile phones like iPhone 4S, Nokia N Series, Samsung Galaxy, Tablets and many other popular brand Smartphone. In Sri Lanka all the mobile phone carriers allow their customers to receive IDD video calls with superior video and voice clarity for free of charge. If someone calling from overseas all they have to do is to select the video call and hold the phone in front of them view the calling person and talk, while on the other side caller can view the video of the Sri Lanka receiver while listening to the conversation.
If you are looking for a new phone and video call facility, look for a mobile phone which are coming with front and rear cameras. If you have rear end camera only, then you can have only the incoming video calls and the other person won't be able to watch you in his video call. Also the single camera will have high resolution so the video image may take time to appear late and will be distorted. If you have trouble in viewing the image and getting the voice together, then go to voice call only as there is problem with the broad band connection speed.
Sri Lanka Smartphone owners too can make local video calls and IDD video calls any time through their carrier, if they have the 3G signal and the video call capable mobile phone from the call receiver side. With the Dialog Telekom carrier local Video calls may cost Rs.3/- while IDD Video calls may cost Rs 7/- per minute. All they have to do is simply dial the IDD number and select the Video Call. Then hold their mobile phone in front of them to view yours friend on screen. (This kind of service is depends on the availability of 3G in the video call receiver's foreign network)
If both parties have Skype APP installed in their phones, they can make video calls through internet for cheaper price paying only for the internet connection and dial up charge. Through the Wi-Fi hotspots it is free or cheaper to make video calls from Sri Lanka.
